I think that using the type of technology that your students use can definitely be beneficial to your intruction. It helps to be able to relate to what your students are familiar with. Online chats and instant messaging can be of use in the classroom to an extent. I think that some students will inevitably use them to distract themselves and other students from the instruction, but it probably would help most students in the end.
I think that face to face communication is best when teaching your students. It is much easier to have an open communication when you are talking to someone than online communication. Podcasts could be used as another way to deliver information to your students, but i don't think that it should be used in the classroom on a daily basis.
I think that it is possible for videogames to help students, however students have a tendancy to go overboard when it comes to this. While some educational games might have a good effect on students, i don't think they should play them every day.

i agree with you. you post is close to what i said. you would not believe how many people in are class think this is all a wast of time. If you get a advantage in the class room them why not make use of it.
